Message: <blockquote data-quote="Fireform" data-source="post: 1648805" data-attributes="member: 65457"><p>The one area where the 42mm Zeisses are unequivocally better than the competition is brightness--they are just that smidgen brighter because of the prism design.  And, while brightness is important especially in a hunting binocular, it's not everything--contrast, resolution, size of sweet spot, control of stray light and so on also come into play.  Also, I've played with enough of them to know that they're not all equally good.  I've used the 8x42 Zeiss for some time under a variety of conditions and I will say that I wouldn't bet the farm on being able to see things with them in every circumstance that I couldn't see through a Swaro 8x5x42 or Nikon SE.  It's just not that black and white.</p></blockquote><p></p>
