I am not sure how this relates in any way to birding binoculars, ?

Dear Jerry
Please take notice we do need to be most courteous to each other.A dear or hello costs nothing and is all that more gentlemen like if you catch my drift. Please find attached picture if you want to see a bird .
The question was about binoculars with wow factor and this one beats them all.

I do also see birds with it even at long distance

Here is one seagull through another great one taken with cellphone

The only trouble with the Sanyo Eneloops Ni-MH batteries is that they are heavier than the Alkaline and way heavier than the Lithium. So if you want your binocular an ounce or so lighter go with the Lithium. I think the Lithium batteries are better in cold weather too aren't they.

Measured on a kitchen scale in logical French revolutionary units, rather than Imperialist pig dog ones:

Sony Eneloop AA (1): 26g
Panasonic Infinium AA : 26g
GP Alkaline AA : 23g
According to Wikipedia (2), Lithium AA : 15g

(1) Third generation.
(2) Wikipedia values for AA NiMH are 31g, disagreeing with measurements above.

The difference is not worth worrying about, apart from Lithium, even then it's no big deal for many. I use Eneloops in low temperatures (down to a ~-3C) without issues.

Avoid non Low Self Discharge NiMH, they wear out fast, and do not hold charge.

They look like they work quite well for birding. That is a nice picture of the Seagull and you can see how those big apertures cut through the haze and fog. A 32mm wouldn't do that. What size are your binoculars and where did you get them?

Yes, the review on the Eneloops are quite good. I have never heard of a NiMH that would stay charged for 3 years. That is impressive. Two Lithiums would almost be an ounce lighter in the binoculars. A little difference but not really worth the costs. I bought a Canon 12x36 IS for $500.00 refurbished off E-bay and I get it Friday so I well let you now what I think of it compared to my Canon 10x30 IS. I had the Canon 10x30 IS out comparing it to my Swaro 8x32 EL and you can see more detail with the Canon. Which is nice. I have the Habicht 8x30, Nikon 8x32 SE and the Nikon 8x30 EII which I prefer over the roof which is the Swaro 8x32 EL. I think I am going to sell the Swaro. I prefer the 3D natural real image of the porro's over the bigger image scale unnatural image of the roof. I get a few blackouts with the Swaro also. The porro's are almost like there is no glass between you and the bird especially the Habicht's.

Wow! That is a DELUXE charger. Never seen one like that. I get the Meopro 6.5x32's today.

I have that La-Crosse charger and it really is excellent.

The best rechargeables that I have found are the newest generation eneloops - highest capacity and longest storage time too. Well worth the money, not to mention the convenience and savings that one will realize well within a year.

Since we're on the subject of vintage bins, I posted a link on the Zeiss subforum to a pair of 8x40B (Germany) LEITZ Trinovids for sale, got only one response and I couldn't read that, but I thought the ad was interesting since the seller claims these are the "LAST pair of NEW 8x40B (Germany) LEITZ Trinovids in the World" (which I guess justifies the $2K price tag), but here's the amusing part:

"These are "the best binoculars ever made" - just ask Peterson, Lorentz, Cousteau, or any deceased naturalist."

I'm not sure if a seance is included in the price to confirm that, but it looks like he's now throwing a dog into the deal:

For $2K, I would think there would have to be a very large BOW WOW factor. ;)

"I'll conjure up some of my old mentors and try this out.."

This is what James said, seeing as you have him on your ignore list. ;) The dog on Ernie's ad looks like a pit bull. 723 people looked at the ad, they must not want the best binocular in world.
