What is everyones favourite Raptor, Wader, Owl, Grouse (1 Viewer)

Hi Scotlandbirds and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Ooooh! Tough when restricted to one:

Raptor: Brahminy Kite (my last big holiday was in Australia)
Wader: Common Ringed Plover
Owl: Barn Owl
Grouse: Black Grouse

All things Scottish can be found here. Also, keep an eye on threads titled something like Scottish Bashes; we try to meet up occasionally and they're always great fun. You'd be most welcome to join us on another if you can manage.

As you have asked, I will go:-

Raptor - Laughing Falcon
Wader - Plains-wanderer
Owl - Hawk Owl
Grouse - Capercallie

All the best

Paul

Raptor: Kestrel
Wader: Green Sandpiper (obviously..... )
Owl: Short- eared Owl
Grouse: Red Grouse. (been accosted by angry males whilst hillwalking many, many times)

Northern Harrier
Great Egret
Burrowing Owl
Chukar
This shows the difference between English and American. In American, “Shorebirds” equates to the English “Waders”, so egrets and herons are not possible answers over here. Not saying that either interpretation is better, just different.

Point taken, English is not my first language. The Great Egret is described as a long legged wading bird, not as a Wader.
