What is this bird? - Finland (Espoo) (1 Viewer)

Thanks for your answer! I was observing him/her for a while but didn't see any other pheasants around  Is it common behaviour that they are all alone? or maybe it escaped from captivity?

Commonly alone, yes. In UK, anyway, some breed ferally but many/most are reared in semi-captivity and then released in order that they can then be shot by rich people.

Hi Otro and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Thanks for your answer! In my opinion it is cruel rich people shot them just for fun

I grew up in a section of NYC where all the Pheasants went gone from hunting.

Then they put a time limit on their hunting season so my younger brother and I wound up raising about 50 and took care of them until they became adults and then we released them. It didn't take long for them to fly off and hopefully live a long life.
