Hi everyone,
I am new here. I live in Sydney and recently noticed two birds have moved in my backyard. They don't look very friendly to me. I wonder if you would be able to identify them? I managed to take a photo of one of them.
Thank you
Zad.

Welcome to BirdForum. Your bird looks like a juvenile Channel-billed Cuckoo. Quite an interesting bird to get in your garden.

Thank you. There are two of them and I believe there is a nest nearby. Interestingly, I have seen a crow/magpie feed them with insects, like putting the worm/insect in their mouth. Thank you again for id them! Cheers.

Hi Zad and another welcome to the forum from me too.

I spent a couple of wonderful months in Australia just before lockdown.... didn't manage to catch up with this one, but did see some other cuckoo species.

I'll look forward to seeing some more of your pictures, perhaps in the Gallery.

Hi all,
Thank you for your warm welcome and help me with iding the Channel-billed cuckoo which took residence in my back yard in Sydney this year. I took a few more photos today (sorry about the quality) to share with you. It seems they grow up really fast. Feel sorry for the currawong that looks after them like her own chics.

Cheers,
Zad

I came on here to ask about these noisy birds in my yard. There are 4 of them being fed by 2 magpies. But I think they may be cuckoos as in other peoples posts.
