Probably regional, the one in Fort Worth had terras, conquest and HT's last time I was there. But I believe most are franchise locations.

The Glendale, AZ Cabelas's store had in stock the Zeiss Terra, the HT and a 10X42 SF when I was there about three weeks ago.

Does Cabela's have fanchises? I assumed they are all company owned.

I do know they have different size stores so that may determine the stocking mix.

The sales manager for Denco's store probably read some of Denco's posts and concluded his store's clientele was not sophisticated enough to appreciate real quality and decided not to carry the better stock. ;)

For those wanting to use their Cabela's bucks for an SF but they are not in stock, then order online and get free shipping to store.

I'm sure this factors into it. When I went into the Cabela's in Bowling Green, KY the most expensive binocular they had were the Cabela's Euro HDs. No Zeiss, no Swarovski, no Leica. They really want to sell Cabelas's branded products.

Consider that one walks into a Cabelas's store and pays retail and 7-10% sales tax on a $2000 plus binocular…I'm not buying them there.

IMO…. I think this has been an interesting post. I enjoy reading the opinion of others and the binoculars they use...

To me that can be the down fall of a store, certainly has been for Bass Pro.

I think most are franchise stores. Pretty heavily regulated from corporate, but still a franchise.

If you want to know why people are avoiding your threads look at this one.

There are 87 posts on it so far and 40 of them are your own; most of them little more than vapid comments. You have become boring and predictable.
I was just going to let this insult go but the more I think about it the more it angers me. Why do think you have the right to insult me by saying my comments are vapid? I want an explanation from use as human being. I took the initiative to start a thread that I thought might be interesting and useful to other forum members and I am doing my best to answer questions and keep the thread going and you come along in an attempt to belittle me for some unknown reason and say my comments are boring. Well in the future if you can't add to my thread or say something positive keep your sarcastic comments to yourself. It hurt my feelings and really is public humiliation calling somebody down like that. If the thread is BORING go to another THREAD. This is a free world and we have free speech but publicly insulting somebody because you don't like what they are saying is not right. Your comment added nothing to the thread but only caused ill feelings.

It's just a different persona emerging again - this time sensitive and humble, minus all the ''zeiss-fan boy'' this and that and ''ha-ha!'' in your face stuff.

Maybe if this place had some real moderation, [and realizing the instigator time and again], rather than the recent moderator reminder, this place would function as designed.

Like I said, you do this shit to yourself.

Nope.

I'm new around here - but I'm calling poor form.

If you must, Criticise the Bino - not the person using it.

Enough of the constant and targeted character assassination. It stinks.

Peace - Rathaus :t:

Edit: what about ruffled feathers?
most forums have a specific private area where members can enter if they want, let off some steam, sling some mud and act like a doofus without it coming up on search engines. 'Ruffled feathers' on here seems a bit soft frankly....yet the bino forum constantly descends into personal vilification - on a public forum. What gives?

You need to read thru threads denco gets involved in, they all devolve into the same mess. No, Dennis brings this crap on his self with all the ha ha post when ever someone has a misfortune. A pretty constant line of comments on his glass being superior.

Just about everything he is involved in does it.

I know exactly what you're saying, and there is some truth to it...but I think you can do away with the fire brand and pitch fork approach. It's highly dubious in itself. No winners there. Plus, it's never worked!

This place needs a proper virtual bar or similar, where people can enter at their own risk, forget the birds and bins for a few minutes, slap some backs and see who has the biggest hat and ranch! B :)
Half the binocular forum has obviously become a pseudo version of this anyway.

It's obvious you are new here as you have zero perspective on what you are opining. Most of us have lived with Dennis's diatribes for years now and have [for the most part] taken it all in stride and let 99% of it go - ''ah, it's just Dennis and that's what he does....''

But, lately, he has interjected himself into most of the Zeiss threads with a level of overzealousness that it has finally come time to call Dennis out for what he is - the most intrusive and blatant troll on this forum. His trolling has affected the quality of the forum, ruined proper discussion and probably helped to keep newbies from joining in and having to be part of the cesspool.

Seriously, how many years is enough of this?

I second that emotion! Very sharp views, great balance in my hands, minimal CA, gives me the steadiest view through any 10x bin Ive tried, and yet it's lightweight, great color balance, contrast is exceptional, blacks are black hole black, not charcoal black, and the EWA 70* AFOV makes me feel like I'm using an 8x bin.

Yet Here you are desperately sniffing him out to vilify him on one of his own threads. Very very odd.

So where's the congruence?

I haven't seen you harassing the moderators on here, or personally targeting them or character assassinating them or vilifying them due their perceived laxness which you've mentioned and which seems to frustrate you so much.

Moderators are responsible for this in the end. Dennis has been on here for ten years, so you've had plenty of time to sort things out without resorting to public vilification. You've clearly achieved nothing. Do something differently. Get like minded people together and Take some reasonable ideas to the moderators or something.

Cease with the helpless victim status. Cease with the vilification.

And if you despise his presence on the forums so much, stop stalking him in his own threads. That's so bizarre it's almost creepy.

Ignore the guy.

Having said all that, let's all head to the bar to have a virtual drinkB :)
