We were banding nesting hens in the box, so I got to see a few hatches of baby wood ducklings all wet and tired from the hatch!Since then I have worked for three years now banding waterfowl in the Sacramento Valley. I have banded Mallard, Wood Duck, Northern Pintail, Gadwall, Northern Shoveler, Cinnamon Teal (my favorite!), Hooded Merganser, Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, and American Green-winged Teal, and have trapped Double-crested Cormorant, Pied-billed Grebe, American Coots, and Common Moorhen (and one very upset beaver) that were released without banding. I am hoping that my next job will involve mist-netting and working with the perching birds more, I have little experience with the smaller birds!</blockquote>
