The weather can't decide if it wants to stay in winter or move into spring so it's +9°C but we're having snow showers! Things are a little confused at the moment.

I hung out two hummer feeders anyway.... I'm optimistic!

I looked out to see a pair of white throated sparrows along 1 lone savannah sparrow. Also had 1 mourning dove, a dozen or so purple finches, a couple of pine siskins and some evening grosbeaks. All in all, it's been fairly active today.

Good news about the Pheasants Helen!

Had the Yellowhammer back today. Also had Greenfinches, the occasional Chaffinch, a Blackbird, a couple of Sparrows, a few Starlings, a Robin and a few Tits. The male Blue Tit is taking food inside one of the nestboxes for the female, the BTs in the other box is are either building the nest or egg laying.

Dear Forum,

This week has been simply faantastic for me and my feeders. We have had Ruby Throated Hummers buzzing our heads chasing each other, Rose Breasted Grosbeaks are passing through, also today a Summer Tanager foraged for bugs. A Baltimore Oriole dropped by to munch on a couple of pieces of orange I have out. All in all a great week, I love spring!!!

thought I heard a Spotted Fly this morning, but couldn't track the down the source of the call.

2 Nuthatch on the feeders (could watch them all day), GS woodpecker, lots of Tits and Finches, family of Mallards on the ponds, not much else of interest.

Also two nuthatches. couple of GSW too. I suspect the fledgling blackbirds didn't make it. I hope I'm wrong.

I hope you're wrong too Helen. Poor things. Today usual, Greenfinches, Chaffinches, Tits, Starlings, Collared Doves and a few Sparrows.

Second fledgling I've seen. This time, a dunnock, being fed by the adult. I wonder if that bird will survive!

3 Jackdaws. (I do like those birds).

Nice views from the lounge of buzzard attacking 2 kites.

Hoopoe over (carrying food to the female), a pair of hawfinches and a pair of turtle doves hurtling around chasing one another. Nightingale and Scops Owl singing from the woodland at the back last night! No Orioles so far.

Can anyone explain to me why I get a notification e-mail EVERY time someone posts to this poxy thread when I never visit it?

Err, excuse me Touty, I was the one who started this POXY thread.

Go to "My Profile" and change the options, (can't remember exactly how) that way, you wont ever receive an email again regarding this poxy thread.

Helen,

The thread is not inherently poxy, but is poxy inasmuch as it is a popular thread which I am notified of every day. You 'can't remember exactly how' and I can't exactly see how to turn it off. No offence intended.

Touty,

If you find your post in this thread, you can hit "Edit", then scroll down and hit "No email notification"..... or something to that effect.

And what in the world does POXY mean please???
