There is NO waterproof porro that matches the Nikon SE. I really want a WIDE FOV so I don't think the Habicht is the answer. I feel with what is currently available the best solution is the Nikon 8x32 SE for when the weather is good and you are not on a boat or by any water and an alpha roof like the Zeiss 8x32 FL for when the weather is inclement or you are near any water or when it is cold and you are going to get fogging problems. Two compact binoculars for different conditions. The best optics you can get for different conditions. Nothing is going to match the SE for that under 100' range. I have experienced exactly what you mean. That unbelievable view the SE gives you at that distance is surreal. It seem like the view is almost from a three dimensional book on wildlife. It makes observing wildlife so much more realistic. It is exactly like you moved closer to the bird. But how are you going to use them when you are in the mountains and it is snowing and you are observing eagles or wolves. Then you bring out the alpha roof and you have no worry fog free viewing and at over 100' the view is about the same. Sharp and no CA with great color rendition. So an SE 8x32 and an alpha roof preferably 8x32 and preferably ED glass is probably the best solution there is.

Dennis
Well said John. I really feel you are right. Dennis
