My immediate reaction was wrong number or who's died!!But no, it was Harry Scott telling me that they had just netted a Swinhoe's Petrel at Cove (south of Aberdeen). After some expletives from me he said they were going to hold on to it for about an hour and then release it. I explained to my wife that I was going out and after some expletives from her I headed south. At about 2:30 in the morning about a dozen Aberdeen birders saw a Swinhoe's in the hand and then disappear into the night. The jammiest guy in the world had to be Angus Murray who by pure chance was in Peterhead and got the news in time.Not many UK birders get to tick Swinhoe's before Leach's but I did!!!!</blockquote>
