Picking out one "best" moth is a impossible task for me, with different moths being "best" for different reasons. Maybe the Kentish Glory (Endromis versicolora) or Bedstraw Hawk (Hyles gallii) for their colours and size, or the smaller noctuids Staurophora celsia with its bright green pattern, or the stunning Actinotia polyodon. Or the Anarta colletti for its rarity with my sighting being nr 15 in Norway and Europe, or the small Nemapogon nigralbella- for being small, pretty and rare? Living close to the Norwegian mountains give quite a few mountain living species turning up in my garden too, like the rarely seen Eriogaster arbusculae, the beautiful Syngrapha diasema, the nice reddish Apamea maillardi, and the clearwing Synanthedon polaris. I also have to mention a few of the species being typical for my homeplace- a small farm in a warm sunny side of the valley- housing a healthy population of species typical for this landcape, and not to be found so many other places in Norway. Like Athetis pallustris, Lasionycta imbecilla, Spaelotis suecica, Autographa macrogamma and Calophasia lunula. Impossible to choose one, but this is some of the best of mine- for me. Svein B
