I don't know if this will help, but my experience is only with feeding and watching the birds in my garden. First here's what I have visit regularly: Sparrows 20+ Starlings 20+ Pigeons 20+ Collard Doves 6+ Blue Tits 3+ Great Tits 3+ Robin 1 Dunnock 1 Crows 4+ Magpies 3+ Jays 3+ Goldcrest 1 Goldfinch 1 Chaffinch 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker 1 female 1 juvenile Blackbirds A pair, but not every day. I think the reason I get so many is there's two trees in my garden, so there's good cover. I think having or somehow building cover for the birds will help a lot. I also have 2 bird baths, this attracts birds that might not come for the food being offered. As for what I feed: Wild Bird seed in 2 seed feeders. Fat balls made from Lard with seed and bits of apple and rolled into balls. Nuts in a nut feeder. Bread or scraps in 2 scraps feeders. Trays made from CD spindle cases with seed, bread, and bits of apple in them. Strings of Monkey Nuts. All of the above in the trees. I also put 2 apples cut in half for the Starlings and, when they get a chance, the odd Blackbird. I found the small trays are used also by ground feeding birds, like Robins and Chaffinches. If I had the money the birds visiting would increase dramatically, no matter what I feed it all goes by the afternoon. EDIT: I forgot to mention all this activity hasn't gone unnoticed by the Sparrow Hawks. They are in the garden almost daily, they miss more than they kill though.
