The east and the coast towards Malaga has become seriously overdeveloped increasingly in the past few years and places that were good habitat only five years ago are now urbanisations and golf-courses.It's handy for the airport (less than an hour) as well as having facilities for non-birders.Tarifa is about an hour, Ronda the same, Gib a bit less. Jerez (Laguna de Medina for crested coot) and the Guadalquivir lower reaches around Algaida/Bonanza/Trebujena about an hour and three-quarters to two hours. La Janda via Los Barrios about an hour. Sierra Crestelina and Casares are only half an hour.Don't forget to call in at the Guadalhorce reserve at the mouth of the river on the way out of the airport. It's only a five minute drive and a pleasant couple of hours birding and walking with good birds.</blockquote>
