Hi I was interested in Kathys comment about not finding much about local area birding ie Bedfordshire, well I live in the middle of the best birding areas in the UK "The Dee Estuary" and "The Mersey Estuary" plus endless areas of woodland and Country Parks, but never see anyone posting about these areas on the Birdforum, there is a small group on the local area section but compared to the thousands of birders in the area, they are a drop in the ocean. Why is this Ive asked many times mostly the reply is they prefer to post on local sites rather than on a site deemed to be mostly for Americam Based Birders and of course there are numerous web sites run on the area anyway, by local RSPB groups, the Friends of Hilbre Island and North Wales Birders to name but a few. Like Dafi I tend to spend much time on the local sites, but look in here regularly, perhaps even when not birding as at present, I could pass on the mass of bird information available from the local sites, would this be OK I wonder, or should one only post personal sightings. Perhaps reports of the incoming migrants in the area would be an example of this type of posting. Bill Ive read your postings over many years,YOU are never boring, please dont ever contemplate not posting. In fact you are one of the most knowledgeable Birders I know off. Peter
