Which Spring migrants have you seen? (1 Viewer)

Spring migration is underway up in Alaska despite a lot of snow still on the ground. Trumpeter Swans have been sighted for a couple weeks here and there but I’ve only seen a group of three in Anchorage the past few days. My spotting scope just came back from Zeiss for some minor repairs so it was nice to get a good look at the bills just to eliminate Tundra Swan from the mix (much less likely but possible).

First Common Whitethroat last weekend.
Wonderful Easter Weekend birding in Cap Corse !

On Saturday, first cuckoo and a red-billed chough in a pasture (not really a migrant, erratic individual, I think).
Sunday, lot of passerine activity : many northern wheatears, willow warblers, common redstarts, hirundines (4 species !) and a few new for the year : pied flycatcher, whinchat, western subalpine warbler.

Also two spotted crakes (finally !) and a new bird for my Corsica list : Savi's Warbler.

Last but not least, I found the second eastern black eared wheatear for Corsica yesterday ! A stunning male (pics in the identification forum) and a lifer for me !
Sadly, we searched for it today with two local birders who came to look for it but it was gone...

Brilliant Valentin, I had my first Common Redstart and Bonelli’s Warbler here at 1000m asl this morning, both earlier than usual by about a fortnight!

Enjoyed seeing palm warblers and yellow-rumped warblers yesterday in Lynnfield, Massachusetts wetland. 60+ tree swallows. Rusty Blackbirds. So far, very few migrants around my wooded property. Of course my house is now surrounded by pine warblers trilling, but at 80-100 feet up in the thick White Pine canopies I can never see them.

First Yellow Wagtails yesterday, plus a Willow Warbler which is locally uncommon. Blackcap numbers increasing and was almost bored of Chiffchaff by the nd of the walk.

3rd April - first Willow Warbler and Little Ringed Plover, Blackcap too - all breeders on the area recorded

7 April - first Common Sandpiper of the year - also a breeder on the res

7 April - first Brambling of the year - none recorded in the autumn and winter so this was presumably a passage migrant

11 April - first Green Sandpiper of the year, a passage migrant

14 April - first Ringed Plover of the year - a passage migrant and potential breeder

Two birds that usually see earlier in the season : woodchat shrike and nightingale yesterday in Corsica...
Saw that the first bee eaters arrived...hopefully I can see some this week-end !
