I am on holiday in Whitby in the third week of September.
It is an area I don’t know, so could any of you please tell me some good places to go bird watching while there?

That's not an area I am familiar with, generally I have just scanned the harbour and estuary area when I have been in Whitby. South Gare at Redcar can be good birding, thats about 30 miles North, the same distance South will get you to Filey, the Dams Nature Reserve can hold good birds and the Country Park gives you good (scope) views of the bay.
