Unlike the Ultravid HDs, the new ELs are a definite improvement on the originals, with better edge to edge sharpness, contrast and brightness. The 8.5x42 are not much bigger than the current 8x32s. The close focus goes to 1.5 metres, but I find it impossible to get the images to fuse at anything closer than 2 metres, so that particular function is useless to me. Other than that I was extremely impressed by them. And don't forget, someone has got to keep the Swarovski family in the jet set lifestyle to which they are accustomed!!!Thankfully, I have a wife who would go out and buy them for me!!!!</blockquote>
