We've had rain, wind and storms for weeks now so we haven't been out much. This afternoon we finally decided to brave the elements and do our usual daily constitutional into the hills. it was pouring down and there was some mist so my photography is even worse than usual but there was a large sounder of wild boar and their piglets on the opposing hillside.
This was unusual as they're the first boar I've seen this year (much less large game than usual all round), plus they were in the middle of a field in broad daylight. They were slowly moving their way across the field (about 20 in total, including 7 piglets) and we were just hoping that they wouldn't increase speed as our paths would have intersected at some point and sows are very protective of their young.
I cursed my camera for its awful autofocus and the weather because the sounder was visible for at least 30 minutes and completely exposed - and this was literally the best photo i could come up with...
