I think I remember you posted this picture before - it's a great shot of the owl - it made an impression on me then.

I commend your cold weather birding (and wisdom when you don't go out). We're just south of the border in Minn (well, an hour south) and have seen some pretty cold times here - impressive cold. Not easy to find birds!

Thanks Gretchen I do not even remember where I posted the owl online!Lost my originals but found one of photo's taken on Flicker. The weather has been a lot better here lately as it probably is where you live.Went out for a 5km walk today. No new birds. As you mentioned birds are scarce here especially irregulars.Did snap some Starlings who congregate around a feeder frequently.

House Finch Twitch

Walked 7kms today saw 2 species of birds!A Black-capped Chickadee and five groups of House Sparrows .Late in the day,2:30pm,heavy snow and cold temperatures might have had something to do with the scarcity. Was looking for House Finches that come to a residence regularly and close by an American Robin seen yesterday.

Not all lost, got a surprise new bird at a regular check out spot,a few days back.

13.White-throated Sparrow
