This image of a Woodcreeper was shot at Yatama Lodge/ caribian slope of Costa Rica at approx. 500 m asl. I thought of Spotted Woodcreeper (Xiphorhynchus erythropygius) – not at least due to the eye-ring. But Merlin mentions Cocoa Woodcreeper (Xiphorhynchus susurrans). What does the experts say.

Thanks for ID to the experts

Cheers

Johannes

I think probably cocoa. I don't think the underpart streaking extends to the vent (does in at least some spotted), the throat seems to have a plain buffy patch (on spotted this would just be heavily spotted), and finally, the forehead/top of head streaking is extensive and not just spots
