Got the moth trap out in the garden yesterday evening for the first time this year. Caught about 20 moths of just half a dozen species, including at least two new ones for my garden:

1. Brindled Beauty
2. The Streamer

Although the temperature only hovered around 10C and 50% sun, I managed to see just 4 butterflies in the Wyre, including this Pearl Bordered Fritillary sheltering from the wind. Is it the first reported this year? as there have been many Birders here in the last few weeks.

I see on Matts report (today) that he saw all the main birds. I must have been extremely unlucky, I `Dipped` on them all! 1 Chiff Chaff, a Wood Warbler heard,
& 2 Nuthatch:C

Just noticed one was seen Grafton Woods on 21st April

Hi all, does anyone know where I can find Wood White in the Wyre now? Ive heard they are still on the Shropshire side but where? Also some sites for Dingy and Grizzled Skippers as they don't seem to be in the areas I used to see them!

Thanks, Jared

Hurst Coppice

At Hurst Coppice, Wyre Forest (it's actually in Shropshire) today when the sun broke through there were 4 Wood Whites flying at the same time along with Dingy Skipper, Pearl-bordered Fritillary, Brimstone, Peacock and Speckled Yellow and Latticed Heath moths.

Wyre Forest- Dowles Brook Meadow

A pleasant day, once the sun broke through, not much on the Bird front but a good variety of butterflies:-

Speckled woods, Orange Tips, Peacocks, Small & Large Whites, Green Veined Whites, Brimstones, Common Blue, Small Copper, Pearl & Small Pearl Bordered Fritillaries + dozens of Specked Yellow moths

1. Speckled Yellow
2. Pearl Bordered Frit
3, Small Pearl Bordered Frits (I think! many shades)

Saw my first Large Skipper of the year along the Salwarpe path at Upton Warren yesterday. Also had my first Worcestershire sightings of Four Spotted Chaser (North Moors seasonal pool) and Common Blue damselfly. See pictures below:

One of 3 Small Red-eyed damselflies seen at the very southern extremity of Camp Lane pits at Grimley (not far from the footpath opposite the entrance to The Camp PH) on Friday 10th July.

A few pics of an Essex Skipper in the Teme Valley today. Evidence of further westward expansion.
