A couple of years ago, we were shooting at Ding Darling, on Florida's Sanibel Island. Since I use a Sigma 300-800, it usually attracts some attention. We had come across a Red-shouldered hawk in beautiful light and an almost perfect background. Within minutes, a crowd of about a dozen people gathered. One person asked for an ID on the bird. Before I could get out "Red-shouldered Hawk", an elderly gentleman boomed out "That's a Golden Hawk." I corrected him ... he continued with Golden Hawk .... I corrected him again ... He got even louder .... I gave up, packed up and left the group to ogle the "Golden Hawk." Another time, at a wildlife reserve in southern Ontario, a grandmother was walking her granddaughter through the exhibits. Behind me, there was a (caged) Bald Eagle and a (caged) Golden Eagle, and in front of me a pair of magnificent Siberian Tigers. The little girl asked Grandma about the Bald Eagle. "That," Grandma said, "is a Bolden Eagle." Hmmmm ... Walking behind me, she then told the little girl - "And that, is a Serbian Tiger." Cheers, Jim
