I saw a variety of birds today in my back garden & in the afternoon walking in the green spaces and parks in Yardley in Birmingham...
Great Tits, Blue Tits, House Sparrows, Goldfinches, Blackbirds, Wrens, Robins, Wood Pigeons, Magpies, Crows, Black Headed Gulls & a Fieldfare at the Oaklands Park

On Monday 9 November I did a walk around Old Yardley Park & St Edburghas's Church yard & saw a Wren, Gt Tits, Blue Tits, Long Tailed Tits, H Sparrow, Starling, plenty of Blackbirds, Goldfinch's, Crows, Wood Pigeon, Robins, 2 Fieldfares and a couple of Jays https://twitter.com/IanGenge/status/1325858773634846724/photo/1

Last Sunday spent ages watching a Jay dancing around the wooden beams of the pergola in my garden catching insects and spiders from the hundreds of webs glowing in the low autumn sun

Yesterday while digging out a dead bush that had expired from drought in the hot weather a friendly Robin sat on the handle of the spade less than 3 feet from where I was kneeling and when I move slightly away he jumped down onto the soil and pecked frantically at the minute bugs uncovered in the upturned soil wonderful

I observed a Treecreeper at Yardley Cemetery yesterday. This was the first one I have observed in Yardley. There was a small flock of Blue Tits and Great Tits in the same trees at the same time so it may have been moving around with the flock for winter sharing resources rather than being on its actual territory.

We had two Goldcrests in our garden in Yardley B25 on Xmas Day on the ivy covered trunks and branches of our Oak tree and also on our neighbours oak. I have seen Goldcrests very frequently in our garden and in Yardley, noticeably at Old Yardley Park/St Edburghas Church and the conifers in Yardley Cemetery the last year or so.

On 20 January 2022 an afternoon walk around Yardley Cemetery saw 21 bird species including both Green and Greater Spotted Woodpecker and many Redwings (I saw 80-90 here on Boxing Day).

On Thursday 23 March 2023 I saw 25 bird species at Old Yardley Park and the adjoining St Edburghas Church yard in Yardley including an overflight from a Sparrowhawk being pursued by a Crow and a singing Chiffchaff.
I saw paired up Stock Dove, Nuthatch, Rose-ringed Parakeet and Mistletoe Thrush. Here are some photographs that I took.

Whilst in my back garden today in Yardley B25 8TT a Red Kite flew over at 1220 heading SSW.

I was chuffed to see a small flock of Lesser Redpoll this morning amongst a larger group of Goldfinch on the young trees in one of the rewilded patches of the Oaklands Recreation Ground in Yardley B25 this morning. Grow it and they will come !
I saw these species on a half hour stroll around the Oaklands at the top of my road:
Blackbird.
Black headed Gull.
Blue Tit.
Carrion Crow.
Dunnock.
Coal Tit.
Domestic Pigeon.
Goldcrest.
Goldfinch
