I apologise for my lack of knowledge!!!
Took this one at martin mere but i am really not sure what it is as it appears to have some sort of crest but i could be wrong

It's a Reed Binting. A female I believe. I think they are able to raise their crown feathers when they are displaying, etc. It could also be due to the wind.

remember that birds can raise or draw in their feathers, fluff them out etc at will, the shape of an individual bird can change! It is a reed bunting.
