Had a good day out yesterday with Connor in the Dersingham Bog/Wolferton area. Highlights included; 1 Rough-legged Buzzard, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Great Grey Shrike (which impaled a newt on a tree!), 5 Common Buzzards, a male Stonechat, 8 Crossbills and 20+ Siskin. I think my yearlist is now exactly 100!!!

What time is bird?
Spring is on its way folks! Just had some lapwings on my local moor doing the old whizzing around and calling routine, and best of all I get my scope eyepiece back soon so I'll hopefully be able to follow their parenting travails at 60x mag!

Definitely not Condors or Turkey Vultures. They could have been Griffon Vultures, Black Vultures, Lammergiers or another of several species of large birds of prey, though I would suggest the former species if there were 6.

I had a brilliant day out around Hampshire today. I dipped a Great Grey Shrike in the New Forest but got a male Hen Harrier and a Dartford Warbler there. I then saw my first Purple Sandpipers along the coast of Portsmouth which showed fantastically. Next I gave the Red-breasted Goose another visit and got a video and better pics. Finally, I saw my first Ring-necked Duck, a drake at Frith End SPs.

Looking for Tawny Owls in Hyde Park tomorrow.

Yes. Its been the best year for Woodcock for a very long time. On a local estate the gamekeeper normally has a few hundred every winter...this year he had over a thousand! 15 isn't that surprising to be honest...I reckon I could have got a hundred if I'd trampled through every bush...no joke!
