Unlucky, TJ, these things happen, and they are really frustrating, I'm sure you'll see a Pec Sand soon though, they aren't that rare. ;)

By the way, I am not part of the RSPB even though I am a young birder. I used to be when I was younger. Just wondering, are any of you not RSPB members?

cheers Joseph, im a member of the RSPB, although i dont know what will happen with my newsletter when i move.....o:D

well done MC Spud with the Dowitcher, and you also got my 2009 bogey bird, Hobby. Hoping to get the GW Egret on the Ribble tomorrow.

You guys are lucky, you've seen some decent birds this autumn, whilst I haven't. We have had no megas this autumn up in Aberdeenshire, and no rarities (especially passerines rarities), and the winds have mainly been very light or in the South-West. I hope October improves. ;) Best of luck with the GW Egret Jonny, and congratulations MCspudd on the Long-billed Dowitcher.

I've got a feeling it will be a very good Autumn like last year. I saw RB Shrike, Rustic Bunting, YB Warbler and Honey Buzzard all in my local area last year and hope to do the same again.

ps: is Lancashire the only area in the country not to get a Glossy Ibis yet?

The twitcher in me proved to strong today as I couldn't resist going to see the pair of Long Billed Dowitchers at Inner Marsh Farm. They showed really well from the hide but kept getting spooked by a whole collection of birds of prey. Saw 6 species of birds of prey within 5 minutes of each other with Hobby and ringtail Hen Harrier being the highlights.

Welcome Adin.
I did get the Shrike Sp. at the lizard yesterday, I didn't have great views but It flew back and forth from a bush a couple of times. I did tho' get great views of 6 Chough's flying over.
The shrike is still un-confirmed as a Brown shrike so It'll have to wait to be ticked.

Some images of shrike (not mine): http://www.cornwall-birding.co.uk/
