172 - Little Tern (x7 at the Ythan)

Despite the new bird for the year shown above, birding was disappointing today. The local patches were very quiet, and most annoyingly I managed to dip a Pec Sand at Strathbeg despite it being spotted when I was in the area . One definite consolation that made the day worthwile though was the presence of 3 drake Garganey where the Pec Sand was supposed to be though - stunning birds. I will probably get out again on Saturday but unless something turns up on the coast I will probably head inland for some woodland birding as there is a site for Wood Warbler, Redstart and Pied Fly up in Deeside that I have been planning to visit.

Also, just completed a new blog post on my day out at Minsmere last month with pictures of Bittern, Dartford Warbler and more if you guys fancy a look. Any comments would be much appreciated!

Okay, I have been on here before, but not for a while! So I will re-introduce myself!
Name's Nicole and I am a 22 year old Canadian, but so far this year I have spent 5 days in Canada :p

First two months I spent in Ecuador and last two months I have been in Brackettville Texas, where I will be for another 9 weeks!

My world year list so far is pretty big! 622! I have been very fortunate this year :)
I don't know if you do it by home region or if you do it for the world, either way its lovely to see so many young birders, especially from Malta, which is where my family is from!

173 - Redstart (at least 3 singing males at Dinnet Oakwood, one seen)
174 - Woodcock (x2 flushed at Dinnet Oakwood)
175 - Common Sandpiper
176 - Garden Warbler
177 - Tree Pipit (x7 at Forest of Birse)
178 - Cuckoo

With things being quiet on the coast, I decided to do some woodland and upland birding today. This paid off somewhat with 6 year ticks (listed above), but I missed out on two of my main targets at Dinnet Oakwood, Wood Warbler and Pied Flycatcher. However, a Red Kite overhead was nice. I will return to the area to have another go for these two species in the next month or so - possibly in combination with a weekend's worth of Highland birding.

Revision for my GCSE exams in the coming weeks, plus rubbish weather here have crippled me birding wise and I haven't managed to get out all week! Weather isn't looking much better for the next few days either, just wish this bloody wind would die down :C

A disappointing trip to Fingringhoe Wick today with the Central London RSPB group resulted in just three year ticks in the form of Cuckoo, Reed Warbler and Whimbrel. Also heard nightingale and lesser whitethroat but they refused to show.

Latest Lifer #238 Black Stork, Northants

Year list so far is at a meagre (compared to this time last year) 140, notables being Tawny Pipit + Black Stork. Still missing some sitters such as Lesser Whitethroat
