Went to Cromer for a week on holiday. On the first day we had a tea break at Titchwell, with a walk to the beach revealing a lovely summer pl fem LTD just off shore, with 4 Eider also. My dad also had an Arctic Skua which I missed! Also plenty of Sandwich Tern which up until then have eluded me. The next day a family trip to Sheringham allowed for a short stint at seawatching which yielded another Arctic Skua and 8 Common Scoter. On the Monday we went of to Minsmere, which was rather quiet, the best bird being the Arctic Skua which only my brother saw, me and my dad having gone off down the wader trail. :-C The Dartfords were easy to find on Dunwich Heath; within a few metres of entering past the toilets their calls were easily audiable and a short walk saw 3 birds being seen, 2 on the path. On the Friday we decided to head back to Titchwell, and after finding a fresh-in Spotshank and juv Curlew Sand we overheard the hide's volunteers radio crackle "can you head over to Parrinder Hide as we have a possible Buff-breasted Sandpiper". After a brisk walk over we arrived to see the bird not 10 feet away. This had me sprinting back to the car for my camera! The bird then showed amazingly well for about a hour, showing off all of its distinctive features, in which time the Curlew Sand had also approached to within 15 feet. After this perfect start me and my dad went off on an unsuccessful Greenish Warbler twitch - it last being seen an hour before we arrived - and on the way back to the car were treated to a soaking, the rain ruining my telescope :C ! Then finally on the Saturday we followed RBA all day and headed off to the Wryneck at Winterton, which also showed fantastically well at close range. Pictures to be added later.
