Two year ticks today bringing my year total up to 198 in the form of a superb Snow Bunting and some Velvet Scoter on my first birdwatching trip since coming to Durham. Other highlights included Purple Sandpiper, Arctic Skua, Bonxie, Med Gull, Barnacle Goose, Whooper Swan and Pied Flycatcher. However, it was not worth the effort of the just under 3 hour journey each way.

Finally managed to catch up with a local Hooded Crow late morning that has been giving me the run around for a few days (looked on 5 previous occassions!). My first in Lancashire and takes me up to 208 for the year.

Funnily enough had my first Hooded Crow in Durham this year, right place, right time. Was there 5 mins and then flew off never to be seen again!

A trip to Flamborough this morning brought no Skuas in the 2 hours spent watching. The highlights were one very late Swift and 6 stunning Eiders which shot past. There were also quite a very Teal and Widgeon migrating. Then across the Humber for the Fudger which was first seen shooting across the approach road with 2 tufties. It later showed nicely. My third.

A stunning adult pale morph Pomerine Skua was found resting on Fleetwood Golf Course early afternoon today and since I finish college early on a Wednesday I headed straight down and got awesome views of it for a few minutes before it flew off right past me and back out to sea, and even better a lifer for me o:D 209 for the year now

 young birders!!! i'm 19, still young for a birder though! i'd also recommend finding a banding, or "ringing" station near you. helping out at the banding station has great improved my identification skills, especially this fall with all those young sparrows. i'm not sure how common they are other places in the world but there are three that i know of in colorado.

There's quite a few ringing sites in the uk, and a few of us on here are training to ring, I agree, helps with Id alot!
Feeling a lucky this weekend- Rf Bluetail, American golden plover, lesser scaup, loads of yellow broweds and some good seabirds passing near me- looks like I'll be on the coast tomorrow! I'm also desperate to gt to Norfolk now- some amazing bird further south, soonest I can be there is a week tonight/tomorrow morning!

Shame the Robins gone (though it wont have stayed a week...).
Changed the plans: Twitching Saltholme and birding the headland today, possibility of three year ticks as well so i think its a better option than Whitburn today.

236: Glossy Ibis, Saltholme Rspb
237: Snow Geese Saltholme Rspb
Nice contrast in the birds here, good numbers of geese (Inc the 4 snow geese) around, wildfowl building up. Off to the Headland!

O.Reville1989

I started off with nothing and I've still got some
229-Red-Flanked Bluetail (lifer!)
230- Radde's Warbler (lifer!)
Takes me to 50 new lifers for the year! and 299 in total with 272 for Norfolk!

238: Red necked Grebe, Marine drive, hartlepool Headland.
Nice bird, brilliant days birding! On the sea there was also c5 red throated divers, 1 black throat, scoters and guillemot, with black guillemot of the Headland. No migrants aside from goldcrest in the bushes, but with three yearticks im not complaining!
I had a stunning red throat down to 15 feet on the way back, and the goldrests were literally feet away. Got some ok picks of the ibis and diver, hopefully I put then on later.

Had an awesome day today. Started off at Fairhaven Lake early morning for a bit of vis mig and although I missed 2 Snow Buntings early on I had a great 4 hours watching a constant stream of a whole host of species moving along the coast. Will post a full list later after I've added them all up.

Then in the afternoon I went to try and refind a Yellow Browed Warbler in Fleetwood and after a while it showed briefly before giving much better views over the next hour, my first decent views of this species and takes me up to 210 for the year, and also 199 for the Fylde for the year.
