ALsoI was guessing around 50 species I added in Hawaii when I posted but it was actually 47 when I actually checked the list. so that would make the year list at 150 and I added a LesserYellowlegs in Oak bay today to make 151.

It just so happens that I have the Internet here in Bristol where I am staying with my grandparents. I got out to Chew Valley Lake today and managed to see the Lesser Scaup, which was showing well at the south end of the Lake from Moreton Hide. It was a cracking bird to behold. The Ferruginous Duck that has also been seen there recently proved elusive and wasn't seen by any birders on the reserve through the course of the day, but still, I was very happy to see the Lesser Scaup. I also enjoyed the presence of the early spring migrants today with my first Willow Warblers, Swallows, Sand Martins and Blackcaps of the year. Also Raven was a new bird for the year, and I was pleasantly surprised on a walk around the northern end of the Lake to come across a few Cetti's Warblers calling, with me getting views of one of these birds briefly flitting above the reeds.

Anyway, I'm really happy with how this trip in South-west England has started for me, and I am now on 138 species for the year without having left for Portland when my initial target was to get 150 species by the end of the holiday. I will next be birding on Wednesday, when I'll be heading down to Portland from Exmoor. On the way I will stop at Ham Wall RSPB/Shapwick Heath RSPB, as well as maybe Abbotsbury and Radipole. The Hoopoe at Portland was reported today, as well as the Alpine Swift at Radipole Lake RSPB, so it'd be great if those two birds could stay around. As for the Bufflehead, there have been no reports since Sunday I believe. Still though, it hasn't come up with a sad face on Birdguides so I'll probably give the area in which it was seen a look. Whatever transpires, I'm looking forward to it. :t:

Good birding to you all,

Joseph
