My year list

Hey everyone, I'm new to birdforum (I made an account half an hour ago!), so this is the first post I've put on any forums. My year list is currently at 132 species overall (includding trip to France). British year liststands at 121 species, and sussex year list at 117 species. My best birds this year have been Cattle Egret, Crane, and Great Grey Shrike, and my most recent year ticks were Grasshopper Warbler and Firecrest on Seaford Head, East Sussex today.
;)

by the way, if you were wondering about gropperwinch, its a mixture of my nicknames for Grasshopper Warbler and Whinchat, my two favourite birds

all the best

Time spent wishing is time wasted!
105 please with a osprey yesterday. I am not feeling to good at the moment as I broke my jaw last night in karate!

well that wasn't very clever now was it ;) You wouldn't get that if you spent all day with binoculars round your neck haha

Zac

Also, Welcome to Birdforum Liam - I see you've jumped straight into the Yearlist being currently 9th

Nice to see you here Liam, sounds like you are doing pretty decent this year. Well done, and looking forward to hearing more from you.

Well, this is my last night which I have the Internet available here in Bristol, so there won't be any posts from me at all until Monday 12th/Tuesday 13th. Just noticed on Met Office weather that a front of high pressure is entering the UK in the latter parts of next week with a chance of fog. This may mean that my arrival in Portland could be beneficial in terms of migrants with some luck, but you never know. There are other birds around that I would like to see if there isn't much migrant activity, so it should be good fun.

Have a great time whilst I'm inactive here guys,

Joseph

Good luck in Portland Joesph, are you staying till Tuesday, cos at the moment that looks to be a good seawatching day for South Coast with SE winds. I'll be keeping a look out in sussex, and trying to get my list up to 130, if its a good day look out for Great and Arctic Skua, Little Gull, Avocet, Barwit, Whimbrel, Scoters, Brents, Divers, Slav and B-n Grebe and ducks, especially Garganey, Gadwall, Teal, Wigeon, Eider, R-b Merganser and Shoveler. It is probably quite obvious to do so, but try and make sure someone puts any really good sightings in birdguides(Garganey, scarce grebes, P-b Brents or even Balearic Shearwater), as most of the birds will be going east and they are often tracked down the coast past all the hampshire, sussex and kent sites!

Seawatching from my local area, Splash Point, is often good because we already know whether or not to expect Poms(in late April and May), Garganeys or whatever else might be coming up-channel from the guys down at Portland and Selsey Bill!

Gutted Jonny! I had a similar day today. Waking up at 7.30 and getting to Pendle by 08.15...dipping Ring Ouzel in the space of about 2 hours. Getting back to the car, I found out that I had a punctured tyre on my car and whilst I was changing it, it began to snow...
I then got the text off Gareth Morgan about the osprey seen by Nick Green, so I went to Alton Res to see if it took the classic flight path north. I got a text whilst onsite saying that it was seen again at the Quarry. I went down next to the river at brockholes to meet several birders but no joy :/
