It's been a 'lark' of a last couple of days for me, with a Short-toed Lark on Thursday and two Shore Larks today meaning I have had two species of scarcer larks in the last 48 hours. I went in search of the latter on the golf course on the dunes north of Aberdeen Beach (Donmouth) today whilst on a day out birding, putting in quite a long time before I finally came across them. Once seen they showed beautifully well for about an hour or so, not seeming very flighty and being tame enough for me to get several pictures. They are absolutely lovely birds, and my first of this species ever. Here are a few photos I managed to get of them (also on Birdguides) - for more photos of them see my Flickr Account and my blog. The rest of the birding day didn't provide that much - before going for the larks I managed a few common migs plus a Lesser Whitethroat at Cove Community Woodlands, but Girdleness was far quieter than it was on Thursday and my other local patch, the Ythan, was quiet too.

Cheers,

Joseph

had a smiliar experience with larks last spring but instead of being scarce they were vagrants, talking about the Bar-tailed desert Lark and the Lesser Short toed Lark...... 2 great birds in less than 15 hours... it was just Amazing|:d|

Nice one Zac. Looking like unless we get a good fall soon on the East Coast I might miss out on my Yellow-browed Warbler this year, though I think if we get the fall predicted for Friday/Saturday morning there might be one of two things drop in.:t:

Congrats Zac.

cheers dude :) The train journey before it was reported yesterday morning was literally agonising! 5 hours on the train before it was reported! (not the mention the 6 hours sleeping on Crewe station and the 1.40 train from Bangor-Crewe on Wednesday night!)

The eastern warblers have began to approach in Sweden, I got a new one today - (218) - Radde's warbler. However, I missed two YBW and one Palla's leaf warbler. I'll get them next time!
