223 - Shore Lark (lifer) - Donmouth
It's been a 'lark' of a last couple of days for me, with a Short-toed Lark on Thursday and two Shore Larks today meaning I have had two species of scarcer larks in the last 48 hours. I went in search of the latter on the golf course on the dunes north of Aberdeen Beach (Donmouth) today whilst on a day out birding, putting in quite a long time before I finally came across them. Once seen they showed beautifully well for about an hour or so, not seeming very flighty and being tame enough for me to get several pictures. They are absolutely lovely birds, and my first of this species ever. Here are a few photos I managed to get of them (also on Birdguides) - for more photos of them see my Flickr Account and my blog. The rest of the birding day didn't provide that much - before going for the larks I managed a few common migs plus a Lesser Whitethroat at Cove Community Woodlands, but Girdleness was far quieter than it was on Thursday and my other local patch, the Ythan, was quiet too.
Cheers,
Joseph
