Still a very blustery day at Sutton Bingham today, but at least the wind was from a warmer direction than last week.

The usual motley crew were there waiting to be fed, but still no sign of ducklings. I feel sure that some of the Rooks were youngsters, there is a rookery only a hundred yards or so from where the pictures were taken. The single Rook has a real mean and hungry look to me!;)

There were also dozens of GBBs on the water, a few GCGrebes, Jackdaws, Blackbirds, Swallows and House Martins. The latter two skimming the surface to get the flies.

Nothing out of the ordinary, but a lot of the ordinary today.

Popped to Sutton Bingham for a while this afternoon. Flower photos are on the appropriate thread and the butterflies are on the seasonal one. That leaves the birds!

You may recall that I'm not good on juvenile gulls, but I suspect that the young one in pic 2 is a juvenile BBG. Please correct me if I am wrong! It was just the usual gang there, one of these days I shall catch a rarity, but not today.

Super pictures of the Gulls Wendy

I think the ones in the first picture are black Headed gulls, not sure about the youngsters though.

Kathy

I have googled juvenile BBG and it does look as though you are correct, Wendy! Hopefully some of our more knowledgable members will confirm or state otherwise! A very pretty gull whatever the species! Super photo's, all of them!:t:

Reviving a slightly dormant thread! Popped over to Sutton Bingham this afternoon, only briefly, the weather and time were against me.

Dozens of very hungry Mallard appeared the moment I stopped the car, a dozen or more Coot, various gulls of varying ages, Rooks, a single Swan and a Cormorant on the small side of the reservoir. Also, something I've not seen there before. I shall try to get an ID from elsewhere, but guess that it is a mixed duck of some sort!!! I never realised that Coot had such enormous feet!!!

Seems that the unknown bird in pic 4 is actually an Egyptian Goose...introduced species and now feral.

A great update on Sutton Bingham with some delightful photo's, Wendy. The Egyptian Goose is a colourful bird, it stands out from the crowd! It makes a change to see Coot on solid ground!
