Ka-yute!
I know when I was new, I messed up and deleted my post, but I'm here to try again.

I think my latest life bird was a band-tailed pigeon, closest relative of the extinct passenger pigeon. I saw it at Lake Murray in California.

My latest is the Common Yellowthroat that has been present for a while in Gwent, South Wales.

That's a lifer on each of the last three weekends now.

My most recent life bird was a eurasian tree sparrow. Very common, but since I'm new to birding I'm getting life birds almost everytime I go out :D

First new species I've seen for some time turned up on my local patch at the weekend and I got to see it yesterday afternoon after a lot of searching to no avail in the morning - a Glossy Ibis! Really pleased to have seen one, particularly on my home ground! If you're going to twitch then doing it within a 10 minute walk of home is definitely the way to go. ;)

Those early times are great, I remember going out and it completely blowing my mind to see all these new species. Doesn't matter if it's common or not (though I've only seen Tree Sparrows once, and at a great distance so am rather green!), the main thing is just to enjoy the experience really. :t:

I visited the oasis of Rawdhat Kuriam, north east of Riyadh last weekend. Its part royal estate, park public park.

Added pale rock sparrow as a lifer and 7 birds to my Saudi list.

Pale rock sparrow is indescribably bland but the more interesting because it has so few identification features. Its like a house sparrow painted a grey-beige.

White-winged Duck, White-rumped and Red-headed Vulture, Sarus Crane, Giant Ibis, Collared Falconet, Banded Kingfisher and, one of my bogey birds, Great Slaty Woodpecker were among the best of 12 lifers (plus 3 new birds heard only) on an excellent days trip in Cambodia last week.

My last lifer was a Merlin.

He was sat in our neighbour's tree for a couple of hours. I took a slew of pictures of it, as he was a very willing model.

Not a very good shot of my most recent lifer(this morning),a Spotted crake.
Will have to try again in the morning before the sun gets too high.

Three lifers for me last week at El Hondo reserve in Spain:

White-headed duck
Black-necked grebe
Whiskered tern

In fact, the last two of these I had noted as "possibly" seen once before, but now I can tick as definitely seen :)
