My last lifer was seen almost two months ago, as I'd lost track of this thread. A Hooded Berryeater on August 25 along the Bamboo Trail near Nova Friburgo, Brazil.

15 months after my last lifer (never been so long between ticks) I finally managed to see a Red-breasted Flycatcher this morning, a less than annual bird in Iceland.

Westland petrel at Punakaiki on the NZ west coast in August. Large numbers fly in from the sea at dusk to nest in the adjacent forest.

A stunning male crimson sunbird this afternoon in the Valencia forest near Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Republic of Philippines - a fairly common bird in these parts I am told but a real beauty.

My first "wild" Mute Swan today in the middle of the Potomac River (though I've seen "pet" Mute Swans over the years). A Purple Finch on Monday was my first real new bird in quite a while.

My two most recent life birds were seen in Utah at Antelope Island on the 10th of this month. They were the Sabine's Gull and the Red-necked Phalarope. It was my only birding day for the whole trip so I was quite happy! Although I've not seen that many species of birds in Utah, it still surprises me with good birds! Cheers!B :)
