Despite 11 hours searching and a 12 ish hour round trip, a friend and I were unable to refind the Nebraska Common Crane. We did however find good numbers of Greater Prairie Chicken, a lifer for both of us, so it wasn't a complete lost cause.
we are in the middle of the Zoothera Global Birding COLOMBIA trip and having done some of the good sites already, I happyly have to list:
GALAPAGOS ROAD (W Andes)
*Scaled Fruiteater (so wanted bird! for so long!... amazing couple perched near the road, vocalizing and offering great views to the whole group).
* Gray-and-gold Tanager (one ind perched in the top of a Cecropia for some 8 seconds.. gladly enough for me but not all of the group got it...)
RIO BLANCO RESERVE (C Andes)
* White-rumped Hawk ... to be honest I did not have this NICE raptor in my radar.. showed well to all group flying and perched later..
At Mahachai Mangrove Reserve Station west of Bankok on Friday: Oriental White Eye and Golden Bellied Gerygone in the same bush. Common enough in Thailand, but not in my book.
Missed out on mangrove Whistler though.
Saw quite a few on a trip to Nova Scotia Sept 2011 as would be expected, but the most recent lifers seen in Britain would be pallid harrier in ayrshire and European white fronted goose, both at the back end of 2011.
