Paul, great trip,
are White-faced Plovers even do'able in winter plumage?

In short, I believe so, yes. Longer bill, paler legs & whiter face (and in addition broader wing bar).

Here is a pic with a wader group on a beach (pic 1) which I think assists in that regard on jizz, another with Sanderlings in flight (pic 2) & a couple more on the rocks (pics 3 & 4).

Also Lesser & Greater Sandplover comparison (pic 5), a couple of Malaysian Plovers (pics 6 & 7) & Kentish Plovers pic (pic 8) from the same afternoon session. Oh and one more Sandplover comparison (pic 9). A less easy one with the Greater turned to one side slightly! A bit of a plover-fest.

All the best

Paul

I am a great fan of the FIS Skiing and have recently been watching the early season races in the USA (from the UK on Eurosport) and have seen my 'dream' bird twice during the races. Clarks Nutcracker, certainly a 'Lifer' for me.
Sad, I know.

regards
Merlin
Nothing wrong in having a “seen on TV programmes” list!! (y)

My brother skis and had Clark's Nutcracker over me for years. One I was very glad to get back!
