ZEISS 8x32 Victory SF or Swarovski 8x32 NL Pure (1 Viewer)

Hello again Forum Members.

Received the Swarovski 12x42 NL Pure today from BH Photo (2 day delivery).

By far I am no expert but initial impression is that these are outstanding optics, looking thru them from my deck, clear sunny day here in Colorado.
sounds great! Enjoy. And Zeiss doesn't have 12x so it's not like you missed out on comparing them.

Please let me know if anyone here that chimed in use or has used a Monopod with their binoculars, thank You kindly!
I used my 12x42 several years with the forehead rest. Last Fall I had the hinge retrofitted to accept the tripod mount, and I have used them exclusively with a Monopod since. Opened up the 12x42 to a much fuller capacity than what I had handheld. I can use them handheld, but I'm fooling myself with my jitter. And just to add, the NL 8x42 is a dream handheld. Both 8x and 12x stay. I do not use the forehead rest while monopod mounted.

Monopods are great, especially for higher magnification. I just make a small modification to my walking pole which means I can rest an optic on top in a stable way without any attachments. Makes all the difference with the 12x.

Hi mpopo123, my most used bit of kit is the 12x42 NL with FHR, a TRICER barrel to arca plate adapter (link below), a tiny siriu ball head, and a velbon collapsable monopod with a tiny form factor (link below). This set up does everything I need it to do. I prefer to use the barrel adapter to arca plate rather than the central hinge option as I'm fussy [read: paranoid] about hinge tension with my bins. I actually mainly use the monopod fully collapsed, with the end (soft rubber) pressed against just below my collar bone similar to how I've heard a rifle stock works. This, along with the FHR, creates 4 points of contact forming a very stable view. I carry the whole set up bandolier style when walking and it's fine to walk with. If I want to watch from a single spot for ages, I can extend the monopod out fully and it's just tall enough to work for my height. Enjoy your new bins!

Sorry, I,m a "late commer' on this thread. 12x42 binos are nice , but for hand holding one should consider the 3.5 exit pupil. That is rather small even in day light for hand held use. Maybe it is just me, but I do much better with 12x50 or 12x56 because of the larger exit pupil ( 4.17 or 4.67). It will help with less blackout issues. I like my 12x50 Ultrivids, heavier but steader.
