Zeiss DTI 3, 4 and DTC off the market (1 Viewer)

Due to some idiotic antics by the Unites States Treasury Department's OFAC Zeiss will no longer be able to supply the DTI 3 and 4 as well as the DTC range of thermal devices. So If you want one, get them while the last ones are still available. Thank you Uncle Sam.

From the Zeiss website: "Recently, a supplier for ZEISS’ thermal imaging devices was placed on a list of sanctioned entities by the United States Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). This means the supplier in question is now banned from providing goods and services within the United States.
As a result, we have suspended all business activities with this supplier. The legal implications and the potential risks for the entire ZEISS Group make this action necessary.
The following thermal imaging devices from this supplier will therefore be discontinued after current inventory is depleted through sales:"

Wonder who that was? Lynred (ex-ULIS) in France supply pulsar and maybe others, though there are likely plenty in china now. Of course could be other components, maybe the Germanium lenses? Wonder if other thermal suppliers will run into this?

Care to elaborate?
Not really, for two reasons: I haven't got any hard facts, and this is getting too close to politics.

However, many thermal cameras use parts (including sensors) that are MiC. And it's not hard to predict that things will get rough for such products.

I was under the, possibly mistaken, impression Zeiss was a sponsor here, not a censor.

In other news: in a recent poll, 95 out of 100 chickens said squawking without laying an egg made them feel important. ;)
