And as posted by Bob and Jerry its to do with the exit pupil which is small so limits twilight brightness for those whose pupils open up wider and for everyone it means that they are a little more finicky when it comes to lining up your eyes accurately as you can't just throw them at your eyes, you need to be a little bit more careful with your placement.Eyecups and eye relief on all bins are a problem for a small number of folks due to their facial shape and spectacles.
