The Eponym Dictionary of Birds claims:
Luis A. Pérez Chinchilla often worked with the junior author at the Phelps Ornithological Collection and they co-wrote 'Descripción de nueve subespecies nuevas y comentarios sobre dos especies de aves de Venezuela' (1994), while with Aveledo and others he wrote 'An annotated list of the birds of the Cerro Tamacuarí region, Serranía de Tapirapecó, Federal Territory of Amazonas, Venezuela' (1995). The trinomial also includes Gilberto Pérez Chinchilla, whom Phelps employed as a collector. The old key had:
Luis A. Pérez Chinchilla (fl. 1991) Venezuelan ornithologist, and Gilberto Pérez Chinchilla (fl. 1984) Venezuelan ornithologist (syn. Zonotrichia capensis roraimae).
Here p. 82 from 2001:
... Miguel Lentino and the late Gilberto Pérez-Chinchilla (Coleccio ́n Ornitologica Phelps)...
So at least Gilberto Pérez-Chinchilla was already dead in 2001.
So the questions are:
- What's the A. in Luis A. Pérez Chinchilla? But see here as Luis Antonio Pérez Chinchilla
- Life dates of both brothers?
