Tchagra anchietae

Identification

19 cms. Black head and bill, white throat, grey legs, red, brown back, brown eyes.

Distribution

Southern Africa.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Savanna grasslands, wetlands, riverine forests and moist grasslands.


Behaviour

The diet includes butterflies, bees, wasps, locusts and ants which are hawked aerially.

It builds its nest high in the tree canopy and 1-3 purple eggs are laid.
