  • Grey head, neck
  • A blackish line separates the grey breas from the white belly
  • Black-tipped pink bill
  • Pink legs
  • Red eye-ring


South America: occurs in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina

This is a monotypic species[1].


Andean paramo (moors) and wetlands, pastures, riverbanks at about 3,800 meters



There is no information available on their diet.


Four eggs have been seen in a plant-lined scrape nest.
