Identification

18.5 cm.

  • Dark grey forehead
  • Dark rufous crown
  • Grey face and underparts, paler on centre of belly
  • Darker throat stippled whitish
  • Grey-brown upperparts, greyer on rump
  • Rufous wings
  • Long, dusky brown tail

Distribution

South America: found in the Andes of southern Peru (Bosque de Ampay region of Apurímac)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

This taxon is considered a subspecies of Slaty Spinetail by some authors[2]

Habitat

Dense vegetation in moist montanes. Observed at heights around 3.500 m.

The diet includes insects.
