Casiornis fusca

Identification

  • Rufous crown, wings and tail, pale
  • Greyish-pink throat and breast
  • Creamy-yellow belly
  • Dark bill with flesh-pink base

Distribution

South America: found in north-eastern Brazil.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Caatinga and scrub

Behaviour

Erect posture when perched. Crest often raised.

Diet

There is little known about their diet, but they are thought to hawk for insects.
