29–30 cm (11½-12 in)
Male

  • Red forehead to nape
  • Long crest
  • Yellowish nasal tufts
  • Grey ear-coverts

Distribution

South America: found in Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Dry woodlands and scrub brush, moist savanna and plantations.

Behaviour

Diet

They forage singly and in pairs. There is no information available about their diet.
