Distribution
Africa: As far north as Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Kenya and south to South Africa.
Taxonomy
Lybius torquatus has seven subspecies:
- L. t. torquatus ;
- L. t. zombae;
- L. t. pumilio;
- L. t. irroratus;
- L. t. congicus;
- L. t. vivacens; and
- L. t. bocagei.
Habitat
Woodlands, gardens.
Behaviour
Feeds mainly on fruit.
Breeding: Nests in a hole, usually excavated in the dead trunk or branch of a tree. Parasitised by Lesser Honeyguide.
