Identification

Grey bird (darker above than below) with black head showing contrasting buff central crown stripe and pale eye.

South America: found in the Andes of south-western Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and extreme northern Peru

This is a monotypic species^[1].

Its natural habitat is humid to wet high elevation forest.

Sometimes seen walking or hopping on leaves in the canopy or middle level of the forest.

Diet includes fruit, berries, and insects
