Black Harrier Circus maurus RANGE Southern Africa. Breeds in a limited area of the southern Cape and after breeding ranges more widely in South Africa, in south-west Namibia and southern Botswana.

HABITAT Dry, open grassland, scrubland, crops and semi-desert.
