Alternative name: Short-toed Nuthatch Vanga

Identification

Distribution

Formerly endemic to Madagascar. Now probably extinct. Known only from two juvenile specimens collected in 1931.

Taxonomy

May be conspecific with Nuthatch-Vanga. A new paper by Fjeldså, Mayr, Jønsson & Irestedt in 2013 concludes that the two specimens are in fact fledglings of White-throated Oxylabes.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests and shrubland.
